Monroe County, Disaster Recovery

In 2006, Meridian Community Services Group began working with the City of Key West and Monroe County to implement a $7.5 million Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Initiative. Meridian staff worked closely with local representatives of the City and County Housing Authorities to create a seamless process from application to project completion for homeowners, non-profit organizations and public housing organizations. Meridian continues to serve the Monroe County communities by securing an additional $7 million dollars in disaster recovery assistance and identifying additional sources of funding for county-wide capital improvement projects.
Charlotte County, Disaster Recovery and Housing Rehabilitation

Meridian currently assists Charlotte County with the administration of the county's $2.6 million CDBG Emergency Set-Aside program and the $500,000 HOME Again Program for housing rehabilitation and replacement. In addition, our staff assisted the county with the development of the 2005 CDBG Disaster Recovery application for $9 million that will serve Charlotte County and the City of Punta Gorda and the development of the 2005 $750,000 CDBG regular category application for housing rehabilitation. Services provided throughout this process include coordination with state and federal funding agencies, funding research, application development, program administration, construction inspection and construction management.
DeSoto County, Disaster Recovery

The Meridian staff has worked with DeSoto County since 2000. Our firm had a team in place to begin assisting the county within days of hurricane Charley. We assisted the county with all phases of disaster recovery funding from $20 million in FEMA Public Assistance to the development of the 2005 CDBG Disaster Recovery application for $4.5 million. In addition, we assisted the county in researching and obtaining additional funds to address the many disaster-related needs. Services provided throughout this process include public assistance worksheet development, coordination with state and federal funding agencies, funding research, application development, program administration, construction inspection and construction management.
